No Career with the Cubs

We had a really great toy in the car yesterday morning, a red rectangular fabric float with a long robe attached. Nick, the rottie, jumped right into the back of our car and grabbed it ... made a run for the dog park gate.

There was a phenomenal half hour of play. The dogs were tugging, chasing, flipping, rumbling. This toy inspired comradery and goodwill. The humans were taking turn throwing the toy, the dogs taking turns grabbing it and running circles, chased by the pack.

Then H-Mom grabbed it and stepped back to wind up for a throw. A really good throw.

Whomp.

The thing flipped up to the left, hurling gracelessly. It landed in the scrawny tree just behind H-Mom.

The dogs all ran to the tree. They waited expectantly, but it wasn't coming to earth. Peter and Coach muttered about "girls throwing the toys" and tried to get it down, first with a frisbee, and then with a tool made from four interlocked leashes.

No luck.

This morning, the toy is still in the tree, waiting for our first good wind and rain storm. Rainy season will get here. One morning, the toy will be laying on the sidewalk, waiting for the pack.

And that is why H-Mom never played baseball, softball ... really any kind of ball.

Good going, mom! High Five to you!
Personally, I think your mum should have to climb the tree and get the toy..I mean you need your toy and what if some other doggie or even a nasty squirrel gets it...I will have nightmares now of a squirrel running around with a dog toy....

Hey Madison! Pretty soon you'll be big enough to jump into that tree! Look how you are growing (into a handsome dog, yes you are!)

Nice to meet'cha! Hope you don't mind... we'd like to add your blog to our sidebar so we can keep track of you!

Ha! Sounds familiar....our Mum lost about a dozen of those rope tennis balls doing that, they'd either end up in the sea or up a tree....she gave up buying them.
Now we can get on with the sniffing :D

So.... is it still hanging in the tree?

Thanks for stopping by our blog! Hope to see you again and get to know you! We'll be in north Florida (on the Panhandle) this summer. Maybe we can sniff each other out!

Aw, Madison!

Please give your H-Mom a big juicy goob smooch from us. We can't all be athletes, though I'm sure you yourself are an athlete of the highest order, Mad.

I'm noticing that you are approaching giant status in your weight category. You have about 30 pounds to go to surpass me, but I'm sure we'll be able to wrassle together no matter what your weight.

Hope the toy comes out of that tree PRONTO!

Goob love,
Stanley

haha - our dad is forever laughing at our mom for her throwing skills too, Madison! We have VERY long sticks at our house for just that purpose!

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

Sounds like you were having so much fun. Our Dad always tells our Mom - "You throw like a girl" - guess your Mom does too. Hope you get it out soon.

Hi Madison! My mom isn't ready for the big leagues, either. When my dad is gone all day she sometimes tries to throw tennis balls for me...it's sad.

See ya!

Same problem here. Our toys are always going over the fence or places they shouldn't because some peoples cannot throw for beans.
