Sticky green hitchhikers

These little things are nasty. They are flat and green and sticky and they were just looking for a lovely bearded face to get all tangled up in.

They are called "Beggar's Lice," which is a sickening name and very appropriate. H-Mom apologizes. This photo is the aftermath. It looks like cat vomit. Our apologies also to all the cats. We don't even think that cats could make this disgusting of a hairnest.

Enter Madison.

She could hardly make it home she was so distressed, biting and rubbing and trying to get the little hitchhikers out of her paws and her legs. And her beard and her moustache. So not right.

It took H-Mom an hour with the fine tooth comb, and the world was right again.

Where to walk? Down the middle of the highway?

We hate these things.

Totally yucky! Poor Madison must have needed a mask to make it home in such a state. I mean what if somedoggie saw her looking less than her beautiful self?

This is the season when things start to get tricky. We have to be very careful, with a full inspection after walks. Tommy gets little prickly seedlings stuck between his toes, and of course burrs on his ears. Lots of hard work to get out!

Yukky! How gross. We are glad we don't have those things here! You must thank your mom for combing you so well and taking care of you. She obviously loves you lot.

Oh, we can relate. However, the evilest of them all are sandspurs. They can stop you in your tracks.

Sweet Madison!

BUmmer about those green hitchhikers! I'm glad your mama got them all out and that you are sporting a jet black beard once again!

Tell your mama we wish her very well on her new venture, and also thank her VERY MUCH for that bootiful photo of your puppy butt a couple of posts back!

Goober love,
Stanley

Hi Madison! Those things sure are yucky. When something gets caught in my fur, sometimes I just sit down and won't move till my mom or dad gets it out.

See ya!
